Roof Extension Repair
Shortly after building their dessert sprinter van with Firefly, this dessert truck hit a building while leaving an event. Luckily, no one was injured, the truck was insured, and the damage wasn’t extensive. Our client brought the van back to us and we were able to repair the damage fast. After removing the crumpled portion of the roof extension, we fabricated and installed a new extension. The new bare metal was then re-wrapped to match the existing wrap and the client was back on the road making money.
Modifications to Pass Health Inspection
The two trucks this client built with an out of state builder didn’t pass Los Angeles Health Department inspection despite spending nearly $500,000. Firefly overhauled the truck as requested by the health inspector including:
- Cover all exposed conduit with hat channel stainless profiles
- Redo ext plumbing inlet to accept door and hansen 4hk for plumbing hose
- Add overflow to waste tank
- Add sanitizer bucket and secure tray
Remake serving door area with tempered glass - Correct pass through sizing for serving door window cutouts
- Add self closing screens
- Add storage above 3 sink/any other available areas to reach 20CF
- Add OSHA kit with mount
- Label emergency exit with 2″ contrasting letters
Both trucks passed and were permitted to serve in LA county. However, the initial cost of the trucks plus the cost of these necessary overhauls were so high, that this business may have to shut its doors before it even launches.
